Stannard Rock is our most popular trip. Home of the most remote lighthouse in North America, which was completed in 1883 to aid in navigation of the most serious hazard on Lake Superior. The Stannard Rock Reefs, which are located just 10 ft below the surface, combined with the expansive depths of Lake Superior, makes for the ideal conditions of finding the 60 + pound trout the area is known for.
- $1,200 per trip, five (5) people recommend max. I Guarantee fish on all full-day charters!
- Dock Time: 5:00 AM, often earlier. Full Day of Fishing.
The Stannard Rock Light House remains the property of the Coast Guard as an active aid to navigation. The lighthouse can only be viewed by airplane or boat and it is closed to the public. After more than a century of warning mariners away from the treacherous Stannard Rock reef, the lighthouse was given a new mission in 2008 when scientists placed equipment atop the tower to measure whether increased evaporation — possibly linked to global warming — was the cause of receding Great Lakes water levels.
Boat trips out to the lighthouse are available, although visitors are not allowed to enter it.
